Jeri lou Oliphant, DVM:

Dr. Oliphant first worked at Arcata Animal Clinic as a volunteer and then as a receptionist and technician while attending Humboldt State University. She attended College of the Redwoods and HSU (Biology 1979) before attending the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine (1980-1984). After graduating from veterinary school in 1984, she returned with her family (husband Skip and son Nathan) to Humboldt County to work for Dr. Leslie Douglas at Arcata Animal Clinic.

Her first year was spent caring for both large and small animals at the clinic. After working at Arcata Animal Clinic for 5 years she purchased the small animal side of the practice from Dr. Douglas. In her over 20 years here, she has expanded the practice to provide "state of the art" care for not only cats and dogs but also birds, rabbits, "pocket pets", snakes, lizards, turtles, and other exotics. She keeps current on all the various critters by attending frequent continuing education meetings.

When not facing the daily challenge in the veterinary practice, Dr. Oliphant can be found on early morning walks to Moonstone Beach with the girls -- Sally Anne (Rottweiler) and Lilipooch'n (Jack Russell Terrier) or gardening with the boys -- Ted (Pomeranian) and Luke (orange tabby cat) or out and about with her two grandchildren, Lillianne and Aaron.
